Citadel Students' Get A Gift From St. Paul's During Exams

The Citadel is a four-year military school in Charleston. There has been a Lutheran presence on campus for many years, with a Lutheran Campus Ministry run by pastors in the Charleston area. The current pastors are Phil Clark (St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Isle of Palms) and Jeff Shealy (Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in West Ashley). On most Mondays, about twenty cadets regularly gather in a large room on campus where food donated by a local church is served to the students. After the meal, the students participate in a Bible Study, often led by one of the students. Worship concludes the night with Holy Communion as the focal point. 

For Exams this year, local volunteers wanted to let the Cadets know they were being prayed for and thought of. St. Paul's took up an extra offering in November to fund these care packages. We collected over $600 for the packages! This is a phenomenal response, allowing the volunteers to make this time of year special for the stressed-out Cadets.
